Alpheus Rutter, often called Alfie by his friends, is a shy and timid boy with a lingering sense of adventure which is interesting since the two do not go hand in hand. He is just shy of five feet, with brown hair and blue eyes. His hair is very clean cut, with just the tips uneven for style. His eyes are sky blue often receiving compliments on them. They tend to get slightly lighter if he is about to cry, not that it occurs often or anything. Having spent much of his time in the muggle world, he like to dress in that style. Jeans and a flannel are his favorite outfit.
Alpheus was born in Deeping St James which is a large village just on the southside of Lincolnshire, England. His ancestry is where his magic stems from, dating back to the 12th century, the Rutters played a large role in fighting back against the King’s abolishment of magic upon finding out of its existence. Often framed to the muggle world as the “Dissolution of the Monasteries”. As years past, they chose not to breed with other witches, until the main Rutter line was believed to be primarily muggle. That is until recently, Alpheus Rutter’s birth was a blessing to the Rutters until he started to show signs that they couldn’t really explain. Alpheus just turning 11 years old was sitting in the kitchen upset that his mother gave him oatmeal. Suddenly as his mother and him looked down the oatmeal had turned green and smelled of rotten milk. Throwing it away she shook her head and made him pancakes. They ignored it, thinking it was just a mishap but his father onlooking from nearby wondered. It started getting weird, his mother was wishing him a good night, and Alpheus didn’t want to go to sleep. As his mother toggled the light switch off, it would wait a second and pop back on, again she did so, and again it popped back on. Now it was starting to get weird, however, the dad had an explanation as he listened to their ongoing light banter.
Thought an old wives’ tale, he pulled a book out of his family heirloom box and sat next to Alpheus and the mother explaining that he hails from a banished family that was once thought by the greater royals to be Wizards. He didn’t really believe in such stories but what if it be true? Alfie’s mother shrugged and shook her head in disbelief, rolling her eyes at the nonsense headed to bed. Alfie’s father flipping the pages looking at his family history noticed an interesting thing. Alfie and he are the last living descendants of the thought to be wizards Rutter family. He closed the book and told Alfie to go to bed, this time the light switch flip had the light stay off.
As he headed off to bed, the sound of paper hitting the floor fell in the flat, they walked up to it, and it was a post card on the floor. “A postcard in the middle of the night, imagine that”, Alfie’s father chuckled as his opened it. It was the formal written letter to allow Alpheus Rutter to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His eyes opened in disbelief, the tales are true, with a slight smirk on his face, he knew his son would fit in better there. He first told his wife who practically fainted on learning this, and then explained to Alpheus, the opportunity to be normal, surrounded by those with abilities like him, magic, and to see things only a few have seen. Alpheus was scared, he didn’t want to leave home but from the stories in his dad’s book, knew to avoid regular people finding out, he’d go.
