The first impression one gets when meeting Artemis Taylor is of his attitude. He is impeccably polite to everyone he meets, treating then with respect and courtesy. Of a shorter statue, and with a slimmer build than most, Artemis learned from a young age that politeness and intellect can diffuse most conflicts.

Being of mainly Irish heritage, Artemis is pale skinned, with dark hair and blue eyes. His uniform is always worn with care, and when out of uniform, Artemis prefers wearing button-up shirt and slacks.

Born into a wizarding household, he was still sent to a muggle school for his early years. Both of his parents were muggleborn, and as such he has a better grasp of the Muggle world than most in the rewarding world. His parents also nourished a love of learning, and Artemis is most often seen reading one book or another, Muggle or Wizard alike.

When Artemis was 8, he was sitting in the living room of his home when he decided that he wanted to get one of the books from the upper shelves. He was not quite tall enough, but he tried reaching higher, and higher, until suddenly, he grasped the book. His mother then walked in, and upon seeing her son floating a meter in the air, quickly seized Artemis and brought him to the ground. This was the confirmation that Artemis was indeed magical, and his parents allowed him access to their books on magical history and theory. Artemis devoured these books, and clamoured for more, but his parents limited him to those books that could be understood (and not dangerously abused) by a child, so upon receiving his acceptance letter into Hogwarts, Artemis was not far ahead of his peers. Artemis heard about the Hogwarts Library from his parents and is planning on spending most of his time there.
