Lilith Hayes was born in Cork, Ireland but she didn't grow up there. She only spent a few months there before her family moved. Every city they moved to, they only lived there for a few months. She never asked about why they moved around so much. She didn't mind it because she loved her parents and they spoiled her.
She always knew that she was magical as her parents were both magical. Growing up, her parents were waiting in anticipation for the her first sign of magic. When she was 6, she was sitting in front of a fireplace, enjoying the shapes that the flames made. It was getting late so her father extinguished the flames and picked her up for bedtime. Angry at the fact that the fireplace had gone dark, she started to cry, screaming "Fire! Fire!". The fireplace reignited with a beautiful azure flame. Her father upon seeing the flames in the fireplaces was overwhelmed with joy and spun his daughter around and exclaimed to his wife in the other room, "She's done it! Her first piece of magic!"
When she had turned 10, her parents began to talk to her about magical training. They told her about Hogwarts where they had trained and how much they had enjoyed their time. They told her about how they had met their first year in the Slytherin Common Room and how they had fallen in love by their fifth year. She loved to hear stories about their school life, especially the stories about the friends that they had made. However, because they were constantly on the move, they talked about homeschooling her instead of sending her to Hogwarts. She was disappointed because she wanted to finally be able to make some good friends. They promised they would explain everything to her soon.
A few months before she turned 11, her parents were captured by the Aurors. They were charged with numerous accounts of murder, both of magical folk and muggles. Through the trial, she learned everything. They were an infamous pair, assassins for hire. She finally understood why they never stayed in one place for too long. She was utterly devastated.
During the trial, she learned that she had a long-lost aunt, her mother's sister. The aurors sent Lilith to live with her, returning to Cork where she was born. Her aunt was kind to her, but shied from any discussion about her parents. Her aunt only had one picture of her mother. It was when she was a child before all the darkness had happened. Lilith was terrified because she looked just like her mother in the picture, with the same walnut-coloured hair. She decided to dye her hair to try to look different from her mother and try to escape the same fate. She decided on the same blue as the flames she made many years ago.
She received her Hogwarts letter a day after her parents were sent to Azkaban for their crimes. She tries not to talk about her parents at all, too embarrassed about what had happened. Despite everything, she still loves them. She is excited to start and make some friends, but she is terrified about what will happen when the students find out about her parents. But ultimately, she wants to do well and redeem her family name.
