Status:
Half-blood
Nationality:
English
Residence:
Wingham, England
Function:
First year, Hufflepuff
Wand:
33,3 cm elm wood and dragon heartstring
Appearance:
James Niemi is a short, lean boy (about 140 cm). He has medium, black hair, covering his forehead. He also has a pale complexion, and dark green eyes.

Background:
Born to a Muggle Mother (Elena Smith) and a Wizard Father (Edward Niemi), James' infancy was spent living in the quiet countryside, waiting patiently for the day he would receive his Hogwarts letter.
His mother homeschooled him in traditional Muggle disciplines such as Maths, English and Natural Sciences.
His father, despite having magical prowess, lived among Muggles, having a "spiritual shop" where he would perform such feats such as read people's minds. He did not actually employ magic on this, and merely told them what they wanted to hear so they would feel better.
His earlier years were so, spent mostly following his mother's orders around and helping her in the house. In his spare time, he would attempt to create "potions" in his kitchen, usually resulting in just very bad tea.
His mother was very protective of him, and he seldomly left his house without her. His father was more distant, and he usually only saw him in the weekends.
Living in the tiny village of Wingham, he didn't have many friends growing up. Just the son of the milkmaid, or the occasional Muggle relative which he saw rarely.
And so, he lived a mostly Muggle childhood, aware of the Magical World but never visiting it. His father felt that magic ruined people. It made them power hungry and he wanted to shelter his son from the magical world for has long as he could.

Where did he first perform magic?
When James was about 8, he was helping his mum carry groceries home. On his way, the groceries magically disappeared from the basket and appeared on the ground, without being dropped or the basket tearing apart.
His mum dismissed it as just his imagination, but his father recognized the magic behind it.

Personality:
To counterbalance his short stature and lack of physical strength, James usually acts arrogantly, cold and pretends he is the best at everything. Behind this impression, he is actually quite honest and insecure, although maybe a little too sarcastic.
He is greatly interested in potions, since it correlates with the muggle discipline of natural sciences the most, and wishes to learn has much as he can about this subject.
