Asher is the older child of Kira and Dalton Ravencroft. While he spent his first three years in his father's home country of America, the family relocated to his mother's home in Ireland upon her parent's death. He barely remembers America at all, and considers Cobh is home.
From an early age Asher was taught the difference between fighting for what is right and what is wrong. The Ravencroft family had a strong connection to the Ilvermorny House Wampus, and as a result felt it their duty to act as a vanguard against the darkness. When Voldemort rose to power, the Ravencrofts traveled to England to help fight the good fight. This is where his father met his mother, who's parents had sided with Voldemort and were pressing her into taking the Dark Mark. The pair were evenly matched in a duel the night over her proving to the Dark Lord. Thankfully, by the end his father had talked his mother down and convinced her that she should not take the Mark. (According to him this was very lucky, he did not think he would have been able to hold out much longer!) Asher has always loved this story, and is as proud as a peacock to think he comes from a line of such great warriors, even if he is ashamed of what his mother's family fought for.
Despite this shame, and though he would admit it to no one, Asher has a dark curiosity. Even though he despises the philosophy espoused by his maternal grandparents, he finds himself drawn to the darker recesses of his home’s library. Around the age of 10 he discovered his grandfather’s study, a room that was charmed to only open to a male with Cromwell blood. Though he cannot read most of the books in there, as they are written in old English and Gaelic, he enjoys using it as his own secret room. A place he can go to read, write and draw without being bothered. And one day, he hopes, he can study the hidden knowledge contained there.
While he has a strong sense of right and wrong, and very much enjoys fighting, its his books that occupy the majority of his time. Be it fantastical stories, historical fighting manuals, or basic books on Charms and Defense, his nose is stuffed in a book more often than not.
For all his fighting spirit, Asher very rarely makes the first move to try and befriend someone. Its not that he doesn't like people, in fact he loves vibrant personalities and people who break the mold. Its that in his love of other worlds, and drive to learn a new sword technique, he never really found the time to properly socialize. This has resulted in some anxiety when it comes to making the first move. He considers his little sister to be his best friend.
Asher is a little tall for his age and like all Ravencrofts has broad shoulders. He has dark brown, almost black hair and blue-grey eyes. His skin is a little pale by nature, but not so much so that you would think he never went outside.
His first instance of accidental magic was when he was six years old in his back yard. He was attempting to slay a tree, which was in his mind a dragon, as peace talks had failed. When he went to deal the finishing blow to the mighty beast, a large chunk of the tree splintered off as if it had been struck with a real sword.
