Malum Nardavo grew up in Ordington, England with her sister, who she became very close with over the years, and her beloved mum, Juliette. Her mother, Juliette Nardavo, was a witch, while her dad, who was no longer in her life at the moment, had been a normal, non-magical muggle. She introduced Malum and her sister to the wizarding world, but never told them too much about it, she and her husband arguing over what would be best for her girls; eventually, Juliette came to the consensus that she wanted to ensure a normal childhood for her daughters.

The two sisters always seemed to be laughing about something, that something was most likely their silly pranks. These pranks were never anything too serious, usually just a small trick or something of that sort. Discovering that she would learn how to do magic truly excited Malum; she couldn't wait to discover all the gimmicks and gizmos that she’d be able to track down in all of the magical wizardry shops! The summer before she was meant to attend Hogwarts, Nicholas Nardavo, father of Malum and her sister, got quite sick with some sort of Muggle disease, re-introducing himself into his daughters’ life. A few bittersweet shared memories left Malum with a new attachment to her father she didn’t know she could possess. Currently, he was still hospitalized, hanging onto his last bit of breath, and Malum's usually bright spirit seemed to disappear her papa’s illness, leading her to take on a severely introverted personality.

Malum and her sister kept to themselves from that point forward, not bothering to communicate with others. Juliette, their mother, was found constantly worry over medical bills for the ill father, technically still his wife, as their separation had not been legally binding. From that point forward, until the girls made it to Hogwarts, they lived quietly. The lack of outside interaction with people during that summer caused the two sisters to develop a few handy talents. Malum and [Odessa] learned preliminary piano, cooking, and art. The sisters found some sort of pleasure in these activities. Their former hobby of pranking seemed to deteriorate; they began feeling bad for their actions. Nicholas' terrible condition matured the girls. They spent as much time as they could with him, not knowing when the last time with him would be. Until they arrived at Hogwarts, Malum and [sister's name] lived a simple life in their English home, alongside their mother, while frequently visiting the hospital to see their sick father. Perhaps Hogwarts was the escape Malum needed to start a new life for herself and escape the her family’s past tragedies.
