Naomi Fay was born on January 1st, 2007, at the stroke of midnight, a perfect New Year baby. Growing up as an only child, Naomi was blessed with being the center of attention in the household, getting all of the love and gifts her parents Amelia and Robert Fay both possessed showered upon her on a daily basis. Although their family did not have a great deal of money, they were pretty well off, living in a quaint suburban home in London, England. While Naomi’s mum stayed at home taking care of her and looking after the house, her father worked as a chef in a Five Star café located in the busy part of the city, often working long hours.

This resulted in a close friendship between Naomi and her mum. With tons of time on their hands, they’d often play little games such as hide and seek and Pictionary when Naomi was younger, occasionally graduating to more detailed adventures such as pretending to be pirates and mermaids or fairies ruling over a kingdom of fae folk. No matter what the two were up to, the bond between mother and child was near inseparable, and the two somehow even managed to make up their own language of various vowel sounds and charades gestures with their arms. Naomi’s mother’s presence at the house all the time led to her becoming homeschooled, and although she did have a few friends around the neighborhood, Naomi wasn’t always that familiar with social interactions with other kids her age, occasionally coming off as a bit quirky or awkward in the process of making friends.
Naomi Fay first showed signs of her magical abilities at age eight, when she accidentally caused one of her father’s signature dishes to go flying across the restaurant and smack into the face of the restaurant critiquer, who she’d spotted giving a bad review on his current dish, mentioning he’d wished he’d ordered another. Of course, no one knew to blame it on the quiet, unassuming eight-year-old, and with no security cameras focused on the spot, everyone simply assumed they’d missed the unfortunate chef who had walked up and shoved it into the man’s face, having been fired minutes earlier.

Aside from that unfortunate incident with her father’s job, she also gained a new interest in the culinary world, attempting a variety of new baking feats at home, including, but not limited to, the strawberry, banana, blueberry pie she’d made for her mum’s birthday, the chocolate lava cake extravaganza just for fun, and tomato bisque soup… with a fun spin. No matter her specific aptitude based in her culinary skill, Naomi adored tasting and perfecting new dishes, often making a new one each week, which she kept in a detailed journey labeled, “This is not your journal. Go away.”

On her eleventh birthday, Naomi discovered her identity as a witch after a Ministry worker was sent to her front doors, delivering the news with a letter inviting her to Hogwarts, a British School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After quite a bit of convincing towards her overprotective mother and father, Naomi had gathered her supplies, packed her bags, and prepared to be shipped away to a new world of magic and wonder at the mysterious school, presumably located in Scotland.
