In Haydon Wick, on 18th of December, the Hoods family got bigger when Greta was born. Peter Hood, who owned a bakery, took a month of just to make sure that will be able to spend as much as possible time with his wife and newborn daughter. Alison Hood, on the other hand, despite smiling and obviously being thrilled about the fact that became a mother, was afraid that her secret will come out in a day light. Peter didn't know that his wife, who worked in elementary school, whom he adored – is a witch.

Because Greta was an only child, all attention was given to her. Her early years were filled with joy and laughter. Her parents adored their little angel and barely left her side. Alison was quite paranoid and always kept an eye on Greta. She knew that there's a high chance of her daughter being a witch and while deep inside she would be happy to find out this, Alison wanted to make sure that Peter wasn't the first one to witness Greta's strange behaviour, if it would occur.

The little Hood was four years old when first showed a sign of being a witch. Alison was at work, so Greta was with Peter. It was time for lunch and the little girl was crawling on the ground in the kitchen, waiting for her father to make a few sandwiches. Unfortunately, a knife slid out of Peter's hand – he was ready for it to stab his foot, however, when he looked down, the man realized that a knife was hovering just a few inches above his foot and Greta's eyes were focused on the thing. He has never seen a four year old look so serious.

After that accident, Alison was forced to tell all the truth. Needless to say that Peter was more than shocked. At first, he was distant and quiet. It was obvious that he was trying to process this. However, after half a year and a lot of thinking on Peter's half, everything fixed itself. The man even got curious about the wizarding world and wanted to know every single detail. Also, from then, Peter started to hope that Greta will turn out to be just like her mother – a witch.

When Greta turned five, it was obvious to Alison that she was a witch. Peter was happy to hear such news as well. Because of that, the parents decided to homeschool their daughter, knowing that Greta won't be able to control her powers, which would she loose control of every time when would get a little too emotional. Thankfully, Alison worked as a teacher and was able to homeschool the little Hood.

Greta spent a lot of time at home, which meant that her bond with parents was strong. It also meant that, she had to find a way to entertain herself. When her parents wouldn't be around, Greta would sit in a backyard and try to make some spells work. Obviously, most of the time, she didn't succeed. With her parents by her side, Greta would chose to do different things. For example, one of them was writing. She had a diary, excellent memory and a great imagination, so the pages of the book were being filled very quickly. Now, when Greta is almost eleven, she has a large cupboard, which is filled with her writing.

Greta Hood grew up to be an average looking teen; she still is quite short in the height department, has brown hair, which flows past her shoulders, a bright smile and brown eyes. She doesn't have any unique qualities, which would make her stand out in the crowd of bunch of other kids, but she doesn't mind that because her average looks helps to blend in.

The girl tends to keep her emotions shut and hidden. Around strangers and people, who she doesn't know that well, Greta doesn't speak, unless thinks it's necessary. However, around her family and friends, whom she doesn't have that many, she is witty and loves joking around.
