Theodore Matthews is a blond (although appearing reddish in some lights) and curly-haired boy with blue eyes, coupled by a bit paler skin and scattered, uneven freckles. He's a bit on the shorter and skinnier side, but despite not being as tall as the kids around him, you certainly wouldn't lose him in a room. His volume is set on loud constantly, and his personality is pretty much set to match. He is a walking ball of energy, and would talk to you for hours about a particular show he liked if he was allowed to. Despite what his rambles would lead you to believe, he can easily read the mood of a room or a person (he just chooses to ignore it most of the time). Even with his strong mood-reading abilities, he has a hard time finding when to quit, and that's not just with his various hyperfixations. If someone is rude to someone he cares about, he will defend them practically to the death, putting him in some sticky situations.
He grew up in a very "normal" household. He was an only child, meaning that although his parents didn't neglect him, he still had a lot of time to himself. This made for some very weird experiences while trying to entertain himself, ranging from toys he threw in the air staying for a split second too long, to lightbulbs straight up bursting. No matter how many broken lights he told his parents about, they insisted it was his imagination- he just threw the toy higher than usual, or the lamp was getting old anyway. It wasn't until he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter would he actually learn why this was happening. His dad had no magical abilities, but his mother did, shockingly. She had abandoned the wizarding world completely after the news of being pregnant, wanting her child to live a "normal" life. Of course, that didn't happen, and with a long night of explaining everything to an excited son and an absolutely confused father, he was set on attending Hogwarts, much to his parents' dismay. They would soon have to accept it, because they were going to help him shop for supplies either way.
