Lachlan Morrison was born in Broadford, Skye, in Scotland to a wizard father and a mother from Iceland. He inherited his blue eyes from his father and blond hair from his mother. Lachlan stands only slightly shorter than average for a boy his age, 138 cm, and has a slim build. Lachlan’s first magical awakening was when he was quite young playing in a stream. He noticed that occasionally he could change the flow of the water without touching it by just waving his hands! It was quite a surprise to him, not so much his father or mother but he still remembers that first discovery as a fond memory. In his youth he would often spend the summers in Scotland and long dark winters in Iceland with his mother and father. Most of the time, unless it was winter, his mother stayed inside and watched Lachlan play with his father. In Broadford his family owned a small home that had a generous plot of land around it.

Most of his days here were spent playing in the sun and listening to his father, Thomas, talk about his job as a conservationist and researcher of magical creatures. Often his dad would tell him stories about his job. Lachlan enjoyed stories specifically about the Hebridean Black, a dragon species found in the Scottish isles. Thomas’ research was primarily on Dragons. However, Thomas does occasionally dabble in the dealing of other creatures such as: Banshees, Trolls, Unicorns, and Giant Squids. Thomas is fairly upfront in his lineage, mostly because he doesn’t really have an impressive one. He is a complete mutt, a father from the States and mother from Scotland. This is unlike his mother, Ragna, who mostly stays quiet about her history and she spends her days reading about magic. She calls herself a researcher of magic and has provided many tips for Lachlan about how to cast spells; though his understanding is still rudimentary at best. When Lachlan got a letter to attend Hogwarts he was simply ecstatic and both his mother and father were very pleased; even his stoic mother cracked a smile. He also has a younger brother, Anthony.

In terms of personality Lachlan is generally a nice young man, happy, and friendly. He cares for people who are his friends and makes friends relatively easily. He is not overly talkative but he isn’t quiet either. Due to his father profession his face will light up if the subject is discussed. He is honest to a fault with a strong moral compass, more cunning individuals can exploit this. He speaks both English, though with a light Scottish accent, and Icelandic.
