Looks like: ... he's almost, but not quite five foot even. David is just a couple inches short of that—so he's about four feet and ten inches tall. Has short, dark, bowl-cut hair and an almost perpetually monotonous, blank look to his face.
History:
David was born into an eclectic but warm household as the youngest of three children. He grew up in a colorful and lively environment, where it was normal for his sisters to run around smearing paint along the walls (much to the fond exasperation of his parents) and for art pieces to litter the floor so much that he hardly ever saw the carpeting anymore. Sometimes, the pictures in his books moved as if to charm him even further. Or his finger paintings would walk off the page (which was the worst when he needed them to sit still long enough for him to add some blue or pink).

Not that David paid much attention to whether that was normal or not. After all, he was well aware that he and his family were an odd bunch. His classmates often liked to remind him of this, to which David would ignore or continue on his merry way. But even in his own family, he could tell he was a little different than his artistic mother (who had her head in the clouds), his eccentric father (who always smelled of soap from his soapmaking business), and his much cooler, much braver older twin sisters (who did things boldly and unapologetically).

Maybe he felt overwhelmed by his family's oddities and high-energy antics. He wasn't very sure what made him different, as he was usually far too busy making sure that he didn't accidentally bend spoons while eating breakfast.

Then, one day, an owl with a letter arrived.
