Prologue
When Ashton was born, his parents knew he was special. At just a year old, he started babbling non-stop. At two, he figured out how to walk, as his aunt bought him a stroller and told him to push it around. At three, he learned how to read and started forming coherent sentences.
When he reached four years old, his parents were surprised and delighted to discover that their son had many talents including singing, art, and writing. He also loved to dance, though he wasn’t very coordinated.
Ashton was a very active child, and loved to run and swim. He learned to how bake from his mother, and how to cook from his father. As a five year old, he performed for his entire preschool’s parents and staff for a circus show that was put on. It was the he realised his love of theatre.
When he turned six, his mother was about to give up hope of him ever showing a sign of magic. However, three days later, on the day of his birthday party, he was watching his favorite movie, Matilda, before the guests arrived. He somehow got it in his head to try and move objects with his mind. So he focused on a book that was sitting on the table, and it moved just a fraction of an inch. It wasn’t much, but it was enough for him to excitedly run to his mom and drag her to the living room so she could see. He looked at the book and focused once again on moving it. It slid across the table to his mother. They were both ecstatic.
From ages six to ten, he honed his skills. Not just magical abilities, but also muggle talents. He was involved in many plays in his schools, as well as talent competitions, art shows, and writing contests. He stated to bake and cook more and more. It was a fun few years.
Finally, on the day he turned eleven, Ashton sat waiting for his Hogwarts acceptance letter. He had been up since about eight o’clock that morning and had only left to use the bathroom. He ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner outside, not bothering to clear away his dishes. Finally, as the sun set and his hope began to fizzle out, he saw a bird streaking through the sky. An owl landed on his doorstep and dropped the letter at his feet, before flying off to where it came from. When he told his parents, a grin stretched across his face, their eyes lit up and they had a lovely little celebration, just the three of them.
