History:
Generations ago a wizard fell in love with a muggle. While he was happy, a witch he had a previously been in a relationship with felt insulted by the non-magical lineage that stained his wife. She did not understand, nor did she want to understand, his love for someone so inferior, and felt personally insulted by his choice.

Because he was blinded by love for a muggle, she caste a now forgotten curse on him, leaving him truly blind from that point onward. The man, now frail and sickly, and without the income to search for a cure he resigned to make sure he stayed alive rather than risk dying before his eye-sight could be restored. With this choice, his life was almost like that of a squib, but his family survived with the knowledge of their magical heritage.

Since then, every so often a magically inclined child borne of the Geimnu bloodline suffered from blindness. Over time they developed methods for themselves and their children to cope without their sight through learning quality-of-life spells through a guiding touch instead of sight, familiars trained to assist disabled wizards who can live on their own with little assistance, and continuously looking for a solution to their blindness when enchanted items either barely worked or didn't at all.

Bicard's father was a late descendant effected by the now hereditary blindness. He spent a lot of time working to help blind children of both magical and mundane heritage cope with their own lack of sight, and at some time fell in love with a muggle woman. By that point, his family saw it as an unspoken rule never to have a child with muggles, but he thought it was just because of the usual anti-muggle sentiments.

Magical Experiences:
When he had his first child, Bicard, his wife died in childbirth. She was born blind and frail, and he's helped her navigate the world through magic since her already weak constitution left her in a more vulnerable state than just being without sight. The man felt he had some luck on his side, as Bicard's magic manifested at around the same time she began walking, allowing some of her falls to soften when she stumbled into objects or summoning toys from across the room into her hands instead of getting upset that she couldn't find something nearby.

Their lives were peaceful, for the most part. Still, growing up sheltered, pitied, and even scorned on occasions; Bicard became an introvert that still dreamed of having something close to a normal life. At some point, she tried convincing her dad to buy her a magical eye, but it was way too expensive with a high chance of malfunctioning due to her magical alignment. Not to mention the health risk of removing two, otherwise perfectly good, eyes in favor of a specially designed one that could be stolen from her socket. Over the years, it became apparent Bicard's body reacted badly to the more powerful healing items available to them. At some point, her father began to use muggle medicines for illnesses and general, but common, symptoms shared by mundane and magical sickness.

Just as Bicard was growing more and more frustrated with her handicaps, the letter arrived from Hogwarts, and her dad wasn't so sure about her going. He could, after all, homeschool her himself. Children were cruel, his daughter could very easily get lost in the maze-like halls of the castle, and he wasn't sure the teachers would be able to individualize lessons for a child that could not see and was extremely reliant on muscle memory for wand motions when few others had such difficulties. This was all based on his assumptions, of course, as he never went to Hogwarts.

In the end, after weeks of begging and pleading, he relented. If the school bothered to send the letter in brail they must have a system in place for her disability. All the while, in Bicard's mind, not going to Hogwarts would make her look like even more of a frail outcast when she's older.

Personality:
Bicard is a quiet kid who tries to be conversational and helpful when there's an opportunity. She is insecure about the things she can't do, her reliance on other's help, how she stutters through sentences, and how badly her body tends to react to normally helpful items and potions. Her father is a large inspiration to her because he could save up for a magical eye, but is so secure and confident despite his blindness.

Often, he tells her that even though magic can fix many things, their eyes don't need fixing when there are so many more ways to explore the world. Most days she doesn't believe that, but she thinks it's a nice idea.

Appearance:
Bicard is a small, thin girl. About 4'5 in height, she has light brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin. There are a splattering of freckles on her face and bags beneath her cloudy eyes.
