"Daddy says that the Lagos' never give up, we never surrender!"

The big haired witch loved listening to her father's voice. So what if she couldn't understand half of what he was saying. The way that he effortlessly switched from Mermish to Arabic made him the smartest wizard in the world to Vienna. Mr. Lagos interject his own rambling to boast about his surprising revelation that there might be 5 different dialects of Troll. Hearing his confidence growl though the podcast at night helped the stubborn 10 year old fall into a slumber. Where was her father when she needed him? Probably introducing her 3 month old HALF brother to Minister of Magic.

CRASH

The young Lagos's mom must be crafting a shelf or something. Hoisting herself out of bed, she draped her comforter over her small frame. Not only was it self cooling thanks to a spell her mother got from some Witch's Weekly magazine (or whatever), but it would be her protection from whatever her mom was cooking up in there. What is she doing this time?

Passing by the hallway mirror she notice a dried drool trailing down the corner of her mouth. Brown eyes narrowed in search for anything else her mother would dote over. They settled on the fried ends of her once undamaged curly deep brown hair. Can Grandma Rio really fix this? What if that happened again...at that school? Of course her first burst of magic would be starting a fire at her mom's grand opening.

Just two days ago, Vienna's biggest concern was  picking out the perfect jumper. It's not everyday a single mother opens up their own Aurology Clinic. Wanting to look like a respectable young lady, she settled on the one with blue sequins. It reminded her muggle Aunt Ellen's favorite singer Dolly Parton.

The crowd was captivated by Katarina Lagos' rousing speech. Vienna quickly joined in for a cheer only to find steam rising from her finger tips. What's going on?! In a panic, she began shaking her hands to get rid of the heat. A screech fell out of her mouth and the steam stopped at once but so did the cheering crowd. Her eyes widen in humiliation. Waving her hands in an attempt to play it off a small spark flew out and landed on her mom's banner. People screamed.

Merlin, just thinking about not being here on the first year anniversary of the store was making the young witch's palms sweat. What if no one likes her over there? Muggles are all she knows. Being friends with other wizards...how do you even do that? If only her father actually let her spend some time in England with him, maybe she would not feel so disconnected from her people.

What would she do without her mom at Hogwarts? Can her mommy come along too? Maybe they can put an extra bed beside her own and they can go to classes together.

No! Stop, Vienna. You're a big girl. You are a Lagos. You never give up, you never surr-

As she turned the corner, her eyes immediately filled to the brim with tears. A new Tawny owl perched on a custom cage. Her gazed shifted to a new banner that read: "Vienna is going to Hogwarts!" She sobbingly raced into her mom, pressing her head against Katarina's hip.

"I DON'T WANNA GO!"
