Her Japanese friend told her that paper cranes can grant someone's wishes and are usually given to people who are sick. Marilyn managed to make several paper cranes and handed them to Mario. Marilyn took one of the paper cranes and imagined the paper crane flying, bringing hope to her brother's recovery. Suddenly the paper crane flapped its wings and began to fly around in Mario's room. Marilyn and Mario looked at each other and they were stunned when the paper crane flew out the window.
