Caleb's father was a wizard of low skill, only ever excelling at his Care for Magical Creatures. He met his wife, a muggle, whilst on his travels researching Salamanders and the two settled down and had Caleb, with only a couple fantastical creatures in the garden as a reminder of their magical origins. However, whereas his father was content to leave the wizarding behind him, Caleb was obsessed with it, determined to learn everything he could about magic, far more than his father could teach him. He was overjoyed when he got his Hogwarts Letter, and eagerly set off to become a wizard.

Caleb is slightly below average height with a slim frame. He has dark brown hair, blue eyes and a light smattering of freckles as a result of many walks in the sun with his father checking up on local creatures. Despite his time outdoors, he has light skin and burns easily.

Taking after his father, Caleb has a love of magical creatures and helps his father care for the local ones. He's very curious and learns all he can about anything that interests him, whether it be through books or practically, and can get impatient when he cant learn it.  He can be easily annoyed, but does his best to mask his annoyance with a smile so he doesn't offend others. Caleb is very forgetful, focusing on his current objective to the exclusion of all else. He holds magic in very high regard, not understanding how his father wasn't interested in it. He believes all his problems have a magical solution.
