Althea is a quiet and reserved girl. She is very introverted and keeps to herself most times. She was diagnosed as autistic with ADHD when she was young, which has made her childhood a bit more difficult than it should be.

Althea Darkwood was born on Halloween night, 2015 in London, England to her parents, Esau and Bekah Darkwood, a muggle couple with (almost) no magical ancestry in their bloodline, and they preferred it that way. Bekah was very aware of the magical world, as her brother, Asmo, was a Muggle-born wizard. The deeply religious family was greatly ashamed of it, and thus he was disowned when he had gotten his Hogwarts letter. Afterwards, no one dared mention Asmo, not even when Bekah married her husband, Esau.

Things greatly changed, however, when Althea was born, and Bekah's worst fear came to life - her daughter was a witch. Her first instance of magic appeared when the girl was eight years old. The poor girl had become frightened by one of her brothers, and when she screamed, all of the kitchen cabinets flew open and dishes shattered on the floor. Bekah tried to explain it away, but there was no hiding it. Her precious daughter was not like her mother - she was like her disowned uncle, Asmo.

As distraught as she was, and ashamed as she still is, she could not bear throwing out her young daughter. As the secret was out, tension built in the family. Some members refused to see them, more specifically Bekah and Althea. Unfortunately, the extreme tension eventually led to an unavoidable divorce between Esau and Bekah in 2024. Bekah soon moved to Wiltshire with her four younger children to try to start a new life, hoping to keep Althea's abilities as secret as possible. Of course, when her daughter received her own Hogwarts letter, it was like the nightmare was beginning all over once again.

Althea, now aged eleven years old, has done her very best to try to appease her mother, though it has been extremely difficult. With religion so deeply intertwined with her family, it made it hard for Althea to accept herself for who she is. She hoped that perhaps when she finally went to Hogwarts and was around others like herself would she be able to accept herself... and learn more about her unusually perfect family tree.

Althea's parents are Esau (aged 54) and Bekah Darkwood (aged 49).

She is the third oldest child out of six children. Her two older brothers are named Abel (aged 30) and Joseph (aged 28). Her three younger siblings are her brother Micah (aged 8), her sister Eden (aged 6), and her youngest sister Mary (aged 4).

None of her other siblings have magical abilities.
