Physical Description: When one finds themselves before Orsolya Tarnay, the first thing they would notice is probably the pair of sharp olive green eyes gleaming from her pale skin. Standing at 5'6" with a fit body, Orsolya carries herself with confidence and elegance. With defined cheekbones, a straight nose, and naturally smooth dark brown hair, her face is a combination of sculptured structure and soft features. She usually keeps her hair at shoulder length, but one thing she loves is to mess with it under her twin sister's influence, so her hair actually comes in various lengths, colours, and hairstyles. Currently, she is obsessed with dyeing her hair platinum white.Nationality: Canadian
Residence: New York City, United States
Mental Description: Upon first glance, Orsolya is keen, incisive, and calculated. With years of dedication to academia, she is the exact definition of a scholar, and while she might look cold and a bit uptight when she is not wearing a smile, she has a particular whimsy in her own way. For years, Orsolya has been holding back the intense emotions in her heart, posing as a perfect, accomplished young lady. But given the chance, she will actually laugh loud and love fierce.
Biography: Orsolya Marie Tarnay was born on October 2nd, 2001, to a Hungarian father and a Canadian mother in Grand Falls (Grand-Sault), New Brunswick, Canada. Seven minutes older than her twin sister Sofia Lahaie, Orsolya was the firstborn of the wizarding couple. Hailing all the way from Hungary, her father worked as a Historian, while her mother was a professional Duellist turned Duelling Coach. Orsolya spent much of her childhood living up to her parents' - mostly her mother's - expectations. Along with Sofia, she learned various subjects from her parents and private tutors, including basic wizarding world prep knowledge and arts, sports, etc.
From the time she could remember things, Sofia was always by her side. And no matter how hard she tried, Sofia was always the perfect daughter. There had always been some sort of love-hate relationship between them, and it was way beyond words could describe. At the age of eleven, the Tarnay girls boarded the underground train to Ilvermorny, and quickly rose to the top of their grade. However, after finishing their third year, their mother decided that Ilvermorny was not for her daughters. The family of four then relocated to Aberdeen, Scotland the summer before the girls' fourth year, and enrolled them into Hogwarts.
After Orsolya and Sofia both graduated from Hogwarts with perfect grades, the Tarnays moved back to their family house in Grand Falls. Graduate school was obviously the one and only right thing to do, but approximately a year later, Sofia dropped out, claiming that she had had enough of academia and attending WAVAD was her longtime dream. It was the very first time in their lives that the twins were separated, and Sofia was no longer her competitor. It's been almost a score of years before she finally got rid of her shadow, or rather, the person who had shadowed her. This had literally been her wish since childhood, but without Sofia by her side, something certainly felt off.
Influenced by her father, Orsolya continued to conduct research in the fields she held a great interest in, namely Runes, History, and related subjects. She worked in the Canadian branch of a North American research institute for two years, before moving to join the team in the United States. That was before she was offered a position at her previous alma mater, Ilvermorny.
First Instance of Magic: Almost a year after her twin sister's first accidental magic, Orsolya still hadn't displayed hers. Well, it wasn't like she would turn out as a squib for the rest of her life as she was barely five, but her parents were starting to worry. Another day of them chanting about it at the dinner table, Orsolya retreated to her bedroom while the rest of the family stayed in the living room, hopping onto her bed and grabbing her favourite storybook. It soon turned so dark that her reading couldn't continue, but Orsolya was not in the mood to light the candles or retrieve an oil lamp. She genuinely hoped that someone would peek in and ask what she was doing, and maybe kindly bring her a source of light. But perhaps it was because the topic that day was just engaging or they thought she was already asleep, as nobody showed up. Waiting in vain, Orsolya felt so frustrated, and all of a sudden somehow all the candles in the room lit up for a brief moment, making the room bright as if it were daytime.
