Physical Description:
Cory would easily be described as handsome. He has sandy blonde hair and blue grey eyes. He stands a little above average height for people his age, often being mistaken for a year older. He has dimples when he smiles.
Mental Description:
Cory is a rather selfish kid by nature, as a result of how he was raised. He dosen't care for other people, just for himself and ensuring he isn't bored. He can be rude rather often, not to make others feel bad, but to make himself feel better. He has a "I don't care" and a "I just wanna have fun" attitude. He has a big ego and believes he is entitled to anything he wants.
Biography:
Cory was born to Delilah Hanes and Henry Campbell, although Cory has no idea who his father is. His mother refuses to tell Cory anything about him, except for the fact that he was a no good muggle. The Hanes family line was a renowned pureblood family line, and no one outside of Cory, his mom, and his grandparents know he isn't a pureblood himself.
His mom wasn’t around much in his life, she had Cory when she was only 18 and didn’t want to be tied down by a child. So his mom continued traveling the world and pursuing her acting career. She was more of a much older sister to Cory than a mom. Delilah didn't have the same care for pureblood status, she really didn't care form much of anything except herself.
His grandparents raised him instead, it was like getting a second chance to raise a child in the rightful views of pureblood noblilty. The Hanes family line had generational wealth, going so far back that no one quite knew how it was first acquired. This allowed Cory to be provided with top tier tutors and the best possible education. That education included the implementation of pureblood and family values. He grew up being told that he was born better than everyone around him because of the family he was born into, and as he grew it became a key part of his personality. He was also taught that he could never reveal what his father was, because he was nothing if not a perfect Hanes.
The spoiled life style fueled his ego, making him a bit of a troubled child, who didn't like being told what to do, His moto being “You can’t make me”Any time tutors tried to explain his terrible attitude to his grandparents, she insisted that her "angel" would never do such a thing and that he was right. Cory's grandfather actually fueled it even farther by introducing the boy to pranking, and the house staff soon became victim to the boy's mischievousness.
It wasn't that Cory was deprived of love, its just that he was shown love in a different way then most. Love was a reward based on sucess, without sucess, he was nothing to his family. Cory never minded this though, it was just the way things had always been. The only person to ever love Cory unconditionally was a housing staff name Charlotte, but known to her friends as Lottie. Lottie was in her 30s during Cory's first year at Ilvermorny, only a year or two older than his own mother. While she was young, she had the spirit of an old soal. For example, it was a weekly habit for her to sneak Cory a choclate chip cookie from the kicthens, even when he was grounded. Every night she could, she read him a bed time story, even when he insisted he was too old. In reality he secretly loved the ritual even if he was ashamed to admit it aloud. Lottie would always have a special place in Cory's heart.
First Instance of Magic:
One day at age 7 Cory was experimenting with water balloons, which on his terms meant throwing them at the housing staff. When his grandmother saw this, she immediately took them away, telling him that “play was only for kids with weak minds.” Naturally this made Cory extremely mad that she had spoiled his fun. But as she was walking away, all the water balloons exploded in her hands, soaking her. His grandfather had been watching and started laughing.
“Was that you?” His grandmother asked, and he nodded his head even though he wasn't quite sure, worried that the stern talking to would be worse if he didn't admit it. In contrast to what Cory thought, his grandmother began to celebrate, elated that he had shown his first sign of magic. Saying that “The magical bloodline lives on”
