Joanne Thornton was born on June 19, 2015, in a small town in Eastbourne, England. Her mother is a half-blood witch named Lucinda, who used to be a Slytherin, while her father is a Muggle named Franklin Thornton, who teaches music at a local Muggle school. Joanne is a sweet girl who is 139 cm tall. She has thick, black hair that falls below her shoulders and looks quite voluminous. Her face is oval-shaped; she has thick, dark eyebrows that are quite noticeable. Her eyes are large and dark brown, though they appear lighter in bright light. She has a moderately large nose and normal-sized lips. her skin has a warm brown tone, and next to her eyebrow she has three small moles that are almost touching each other; she wears black, oval-framed glasses, without them, she would have to strain to see.
Joanne is very curious; ever since she was little, she’d get into trouble just because she wanted to understand how things work. In general, she’s pretty laid-back; she prefers a close circle of friends to spending time with large groups of people, though she has no trouble socializing when the occasion calls for it. She’s definitely good with numbers and enjoys writing. She’s also quite stubborn; once she sets her mind to something, she’s determined to see it through no matter what. She tends to think things over carefully before doing anything reckless. Although she may seem calm and unflappable on the outside, she’s very sensitive on the inside: she’s deeply affected by what others think of her, especially when it comes to the things she’s passionate about, like the piano, for example. She’s very close to her family, particularly her father, and always wants to be like him.
Her childhood was practically Muggle; her mother had essentially kept her magic a secret from her father, so for all that time, ever since she was born, her father blissfully remained unaware that he had two witches living at home. Joanne loved accompanying her father to his music lessons, and he taught her to play the school’s old piano. When she turned 6, her mother gave birth to her brother, and ever since then, she’s tried to be a great role model for him. Although she tries to teach him his school subjects and tell him stories about the stars, her brother just doesn’t understand her (he’s a baby), and she gets a little frustrated, anyway, it was also when she was 6 years old, in December, that she got sick (a terrible fever and flu brought on by the winter) and she hated it so much when her mother put wet cloths on her head that and the next moment, the cloth her mother had placed on her forehead was floating above her head... Her father, witnessing this, reacted with disbelief; her mother had to confess her magical nature to him. Luckily, her father took it reasonably well, admitting that he’d suspected it ever since he saw their neighbor watering plants without holding the hose, or when Lucinda snapped her fingers and the glasses were dry. That’s how Jo first learned a little more about the magical world. Her mother told her about her house in Slytherin, about the Great Hall, and about Hogsmeade. Joanne became quite excited at the idea of going to Hogwarts, and of course, even though she had friends in the Muggle world, she knew how to keep her magical secret well.
