My name is Indra Rowan, and I was born on 21 October 2014 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I was born unexpectedly while my parents, Orm Rowan and Lingling Lim, were travelling by car. My mother suddenly began experiencing severe contractions and realized that she was about to give birth.

“Orm, I think I'm having contractions. I think I'm about to give birth. Wait... I think she's coming!”

Only a short moment later, my first cry filled the car.

“Waaah! Waaah!”

That was the first sound I made after entering the world.

My parents were extremely surprised because they had not expected me to be born so quickly. Fortunately, both my mother and I were safe. My parents immediately drove to the nearest hospital so that we could be examined and properly taken care of.

We remained at the hospital for three days while the doctors monitored both my mother and me to make sure that we were healthy and that there were no complications. After three days, the hospital finally allowed us to leave.

My father then looked through the documents that had been prepared for my birth. According to the official birth record, I was born on 21 October 2014, a Tuesday, at 1:10 p.m., with Chiang Mai Zoo recorded as my place of birth.

After that, my parents went to complete my birth registration with the Thai authorities. My father also arranged the necessary documents so that I could receive British citizenship through him, as he was a Scottish and British citizen.

Once all the paperwork had been completed, my parents decided to remain in Thailand for a while so that my mother could recover and I could grow a little older before we continued our journey.

We travelled to Mae Hong Son, where my maternal grandmother owned a house that the family used whenever we stayed in Thailand.

The house was a comfortable two-storey home with a fairly large area around it. It had two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a small garden behind the house. There was enough space beside the house to park two cars. Because the area sometimes experienced problems with electricity, the house also had two or three backup generators.

Although the house was not far from the town, the area was peaceful and surrounded by nature. The weather around the time I was born was relatively cool, with periods of rain.

I spent the first two years of my life in Thailand.

When I was about two years old, my parents decided that it was finally time for us to continue our journey to Scotland. Around the same time, my father received an important letter from his own father, Ewan Rowan.

The letter said:

“Orm, my son.

I think the time has finally come for me to step away from the work I have spent so many years building. I started this company when we had almost nothing, and over the years it has grown into a trusted engineering and construction company.

TS Construction Engineering has come a very long way, and I have thought carefully about what I want to do next.

After reading the letter, my parents discussed the matter together and decided that it was time for us to return to my father's family home in Inverness, Scotland.

We began preparing for the journey immediately.

After packing our belongings, we drove to Chiang Mai International Airport. My mother had booked our flight to Scotland, which was scheduled to depart at 9:30 p.m.

At around 7:00 p.m., my father checked in our luggage and completed the necessary procedures. We also left our car with a vehicle storage company before entering the airport.

At around 8:15 p.m., our family passed through immigration and waited for our flight.

At that time, I became very hungry and started crying. My mother asked my father to find something for us to eat and to buy some warm milk for me. After drinking the milk, I became sleepy and eventually fell asleep.

At 9:30 p.m., we boarded the plane and began our journey to Scotland.

Around 2:30 a.m., we transferred to another flight in Doha before continuing our journey toward Scotland.

We eventually arrived at Edinburgh Airport at approximately 8:00 a.m. After collecting our luggage at around 8:30 a.m., a driver was waiting to take us from the airport to my father's family home near Inverness.

The journey took approximately three and a half hours.

When we finally arrived, it was the first time I had ever seen my father's family home.

It was enormous and beautiful.

There was a huge garden surrounding the property, and in the middle of the front garden stood a treehouse.

I thought it was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen.

The following day, my father travelled to meet my grandfather, Ewan Rowan. My mother and I stayed at home and did not go with him.

When my father arrived at my grandfather's home, Ewan immediately began discussing the company. He officially introduced Orm as the new chairman of TS Construction Engineering and transferred responsibility for the family business to him.

Three years later, I began attending P1 at Central School.

On my first day, my mother took me to school. I felt extremely nervous about being separated from her and having to stay there until she came back to pick me up.

When my mother walked away from me, I immediately began crying heavily and tried to follow her.

One of the teachers gently picked me up and comforted me until I eventually became tired. The teacher then took me somewhere quiet so that I could rest.
