Her face is oval-round, with a childlike jawline that hasn't sharpened yet, and eyes commonly almond-shaped, but oddly still, like dark pools that don't quite reflect the light around them... they seem to catch glimmers from nowhere, her nose is high bridged, but the tip rounds off, her lips are medium but they're always a shade.. too pink, almost bruised looking as if she's been chewing on wild berries. (which she certainly has), Her hair is a wavy thick brown, always tied in a messy fishtail braid, stray strands escaping, albeit she stands with an odd stillness, her limbs are average and gawky

she's... straightforward, and doesn't beat around the bush and if something isn't fair, she's not afraid to say so, it's obvious to her, she doesn't think about it and does it, she's restless and can't sit still for long, she doesn't get the point of staying still when there's so much to do, she also laughs at dumb jokes, gets annoyed when her brother touches her stuff, sometimes will say the wrong things and regret it later, and she even cries when she gets angry, which is a quite fairly embarrassing and annoying trait in her perspective.

Cordelia grew up in a cramped, but cozy Marchmont flat with rattling windows, she was the child after the middle child, not quite last either, Isobel, the oldest was off to university before Emily had even turned nine, Emily was two years above Isobel, hockey captain, both brilliant and untouchable, and little Liam who got away with everything because he was a baby. Her dad was a mechanic, who worked about six days a week, and mom a paranormal guide, who gave tours to haunted places, which she had never quite understood, but loved nonetheless. She had a small group of friends, or just, people to be around you could say since they all never really talked much, just walked together through the meadows to go to school, sit on the grass together when the weather held which was never often, and huddle by the covered bit by the gym when it rained which was most of the time, she would walk home alone, but kick rocks on the way, let herself get sidetracked by the oddest things she had started to notice, cutting through gardens, and when she would get home, her mom would have made her food, they would sit and talk about their day and plans ahead, and she would not even want to change out of her uniform.

the age of ten was the first time she felt it, it was a friday which meant school was out early, and she'd taken the long way home because she wasn't in a rush, she had been kicking a stone along the pavement when she noticed the wall. It was not a particularly hard climb,, eight feet maybe, old stone, covered with ivy and moss, with a rickety drainpipe running up the side, it was a part of an abandoned building, the windows boarded up, and the door chained shut. She stopped, and stared, stared at the drainpipe, the wall, the flat ledge on the top that jutted out just enough that she could sit on it, and without a second thought she climbed without weighing the risks, she knew it was stupid as she heard the pipes groan under her weight, and she was wearing her school shoes which had absolutely no grip whatsoever and she was most likely to get scolded by an adult if one saw her, but she didn't care and wanted, no, needed to see what was on the other side. She pulled herself on to the ledge, her palms scraped raw, she looked down and saw how on the other side was a small courtyard, overgrown completely with weeds and wildflowers, a stone fountain in the middle that had long since stopped working. Cordelia felt extremely giddy as if having discovered a secret garden, she swung her legs over the edge, ready to drop... when her foot slipped. she didn't have the time to scream and just fell backwards, she felt the ground rushing up to meet her- but then she stopped, she was hanging mid-air, about three feet off the ground, her back parallel to the earth, her arms flailing uselessly. she hung there for a long, breathless moment, her heart pounding, then she fell and landed hard on her back in the overgrown grass, knocking the wind out of her, she lay there and stared up at the grey sky, gasping, her whole body shaking, the fall hadn't been that far, she would have been fine without the- whatever that was. But she hadn't fallen, just hung there, suspended. she sat up slowly, looking at her hands, which were trembling, but there was a faint warm tingle in her palms, fading as she watched, she'd done that, had caught herself... without thinking, she sat in the overgrown courtyard for what seemed like hours, trying to make sense of what had happened, but she knew with a certainty that it had been magic
