Physical Description
Lily Kingham is an 11-year-old witch living in Oxford, England. She has an average build, ordinary and stands about 142 cm tall. Lily has long dark brown hair (usually down or in a braid) and brown eyes. She has light skin and some freckles on her nose. Lily has no particularly unusual physical features, scars or distinctive hair or eye colors. She loves simple clothes and wears sage green all the time because she finds the color soothing.
Description Mental
Lily is a curious, observant and somewhat introverted girl. She is quiet with people she doesn’t know well, but once she is comfortable with someone she is more talkative and lively. She likes to read, draw, explore and collect interesting little objects which she keeps in a small wooden box in her room.
Lily can be a little impatient and sometimes worries she has made a mistake, but she usually tries again instead of giving up. Polite and friendly, but can be pretty determined when she thinks she is right.
As a pure-blood witch, Lily had grown up knowing about the magical world. Her family has told her about witches and wizards, magical communities and Hogwarts but she has not been taught spells or magical subjects before going to school. Like the other children her age who are going to Hogwarts, Lily has had no formal magical education and cannot do magic on purpose.
Lily’s knowledge of the Muggle world is also limited, as most of her childhood has been spent with magical families. She has heard her family discuss some Muggle customs and inventions, but does not understand fully how many of them work.
Lily’s about to start her first year at Hogwarts. She’s nervous, but excited. She is looking forward to meeting new people, experiencing school life for the first time and eventually learning magic thru her lessons. She's curious as to what magic will be like but has never had any formal instruction and is eager to see what subjects she'll like.
Magic First
The first time Lily did magic by accident was when she was seven years old and living with her family in Oxford, England.
One afternoon as Lily was playing outside in the garden she suddenly heard a loud sound behind her. A large branch had fallen from a nearby tree and was coming straight down at her. Lily froze in terror, and threw her arms over her head and crouched.
The branch stopped abruptly above her and fell harmlessly to one side instead of striking her.
For several seconds Lily stood frozen, too frightened to move. Once she realized she had not been injured, confused and shaken. She didn't know what had happened, nor that her magic had reacted to the danger.
When her parents heard the noise they ran outside and found Lily frightened, but not hurt. They saw the branch and knew what had happened and that Lily had experienced accidental magic. They told her she hadn't done anything wrong, that magic sometimes happens without meaning to in young witches and wizards.
Lily was reassured by her parents, but she still didn't understand what had happened. She didn’t try to repeat the incident. She didn’t try to make magic happen again. For Lily, it was just the first unexplained magical experience, before she finally began her education at Hogwarts.
