Physical Description: [ Face Claim Actor Kyle Harrison Breitkopf/Grayson Russell ] Jude Evan Shelley is 11, 4 ft 10, slightly tall for his age. He has messy, wavy red hair, orange from the summer sun. He's unwilling to let his ma cut his hair, as he claims it's "cooler long". He's sporty, and very outdoorsy, leading to tan, freckled skin and scraped knees from rowdy recesses at school. Jude has grey-blue eyes, reminiscent of the choppy waters on the Scottish coast where he lives with his ma and baby siblings. His clothing style is comfortable, breezy, and fitting for his low-key life on the coast.
Mental Description/Biography: Jude is a classic case of a rambunctious young boy. He's curious, energetic, and loyal to his friends and family. He's sporty, and learned to ride a broom from his ma as early as 8 years old. His ma is in a Scottish coven, actually one of the leading women in the coven for the last 10 years, and he has many aunties who come over to the house to perform magic with his ma. As for his dad, Jude isn't familiar with him. All he knows from ma's stories, is that his dad was a muggle who never felt "at home" in wizarding culture. His dad left Scotland when he was just a wee kid. Jude stayed behind with his ma, and he loves his life in the remodeled lighthouse on the coast. At his young age, Jude is starting to have questions about his gender identity, as well as his sexuality, but he doesn't have those words for it. Jude feels different than the other boys in his grade at school - but his single mother has too much on her plate for him to make it her problem. He's always been a good kid, and among the stress with his dad and baby siblings, Jude has always been "easy to handle". Maybe at Hogwarts, Jude thinks, he can figure some things out on his own. For now, Jude will enjoy his hobbies, such as flying his broom, playing pretend with the other boys in town, and reading comics while watching the ships go by on the coast.
First Instance of Magic: As the oldest boy of a single mom, with two younger twin siblings requiring more attention, Jude spent a lot of time playing alone on the rocky beach near the house. At age 7, during a particularly rowdy game of pretend, one where he was fighting an imaginary water dragon with a sword made of sticks and slate, Jude took a tumble and scraped up his leg on a sharp piece of discarded glass near the edge of the water. He was bleeding more than he'd ever seen before, and fear racked his little body. He prepared his body to yell for ma, when he heard his baby brother Antony crying - even this far away, across the yard onto the shore, Antony's cries were loud and demanding, and there's no way she would hear him over the baby inside. Instantly, as fast as a rainstorm begins, a swarm of sea birds, white and frantic, surrounded Jude. They cawed as a group and bounced about the shore, knocking around driftwood and rocks seemingly too large for birds. The commotion was so loud Jude clasped his hands over his ears. Miraculously, his ma heard the chaos over the trouble inside the house. Within minutes, she was bounding down the grass hill of the yard with her baby on her hip, all to get to her oldest son and heal his wound.
