Physical Description: A handsome young man with flowing blonde hair and a strong chin he inherited from his father. Although born in South Africa, Christiaan's accent is splashed with a South African twinge. He is Tall and skinny with bright blue eyes and a friendly face. He shares his father's passion for rugby and used to play while attending muggle school. His favourite team is the Sharks, followed by the Springboks. Although he doesn't look like someone who plays such a tough sport, despite his lean stature, he has muscle in his arms, legs, and core. He stands around 5'0, inheriting some of his father's height.
Mental Description: Quite an outgoing person in the sense that if one added his bright and vibrant Hawaiian shirts and his jovial sense of humour, he is very good at drawing attention to himself. He was instilled with a strong sense of morality by his parents, with his dad saying:
"The world is full of evil things already son, There is no need for you to join them. It is the kindness of everyday people that really fights evil."
Biography: Born in Ladysmith to Peit Van Der Vrees, a South African Half Blood Wizard and an English muggle mother. Christiaan lives with his father. His childhood was fairly comforted as his father comes from a rich family in KwaZulu-Natal before moving to Durban when Christiaan was 5, around the time Christiaan's father and mother separated. Christiaan's father peit was from a wizarding family, The Van Der Vrees who came to South Africa in the 1700's and participated in the Great Trek and made a fortune selling Wizarding Antiques and was made famous when Christiaan's grandfather defeated the dark Wizard Peit Van Koos in 1969.
Christiaan and his father moved to England when Christiaan was round 9 when his father got a job working for the Auror Office in the British Ministry of Magic. He does go back to Durban during the summer break to stay with his aunt, but his father stays in the UK.
First Instance of Magic: His first time using magic was when Christiaan was 4, when he turned his Cousins hair green during a heated argument over a board game. This event took place when Christiaan was on holiday to the Lake District with his family; they stayed around Lake Windermere in a town not far from where Christiaan's mother was born.
