Akira was born to a pure-blooded and proud real estate-powered family in Kyoto, which had held onto their properties as family heirlooms throughout World War II. Although his ancestors were not of the richest in the monetary sense, they were academics and involved Ministry officials in the magical world. His great-grandfather was particularly business-minded, and came to develop and establish one of the largest magical shopping alleys in Kyoto. His grandfather carried on the family business, and eventually expanded their family's commercial real estate portfolio to neighboring trendy Osaka, where business boomed. As a result, Akira grew up in a privileged household, with no lack of tutors or the human comforts in life. As heir to the family enterprise, he was trained from day one to walk in his father's shoes. He was used to guests frequenting their family home, where he would often demonstrate his skills with the ryuteki, a Japanese flute.
