My name is Demetius Yatroo, and I am an eleven-year-old Muggle-born from Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man.
Standing at a completely average 4'8" (142 cm), I am a rather curious, enthusiastic boy who loves reading and stargazing. As you can see in my photo, I have messy, weavy brown hair, a wide grin with a slight gap teeth, and round, wire-rimmed glasses that always slip down my nose. I am a bit of a clockwork nerd; I am obsessed with punctuality and constantly check my oversized wristwatch, (my dad gave it to me) and I love wearing cozy, knitted striped sweaters and scarfs.
My parents have absolutely no connection with magic. My father is a local watchmaker in Douglas, and my mother is a typical house wife. They both ensured I received proper manners and education. I grew up attending the local school, completely oblivious to the wizarding world.
To us, life on our windy island was perfectly ordinary. That was untill my First Instance Of Magic (FIOM) when I was seven years old. It was a freezing November afternoon, and I was walking home near the Douglas headlands. A sudden, violent gust of wind swept across the cliffs, knocking me off balance. I slipped on the wet grass, slidding helplessly toward the jagged edge of a steep drop. It was a terrifying moment of pure danger. I didn't mean to do anything - it was entirelly accidental - but as I let out a panicked cry, and something very strange happened. Instead of plummeting onto the rocks below, the air beneath me suddenly turned completely solid, like a thick, invisible cushion. I bounced gently back into the safe grass, intirely uninjured! My parents thought a miraculous updraft had saved me. It wasn't untill my Hogwarts letter arrived that we finally understood the truth.
I am incredibly excited to leave the Isle of Man for London, step onto Platform 9 3/4, and start this magical journey!
