I'm Emmeline Vane, the first thing you notice about me it's probably my curly brown hair. I'm not really tall, okay, not at all. My eyes are brown and I've been told my gaze is calculating... I prefer say I'm observing.
I tend to be on my own. I prefer to listen than to talk when I'm not close to someone. If you don't know me you'll probably think I'm too quiet or unapproachable... but I'm just trying to keep distance to protect me. Or probably you just didn't understand my cynical sense of humor. I hate chaotic environments, I feel safe when I'm reading in my comfort places. I love to read, I rarely go out without a book in my bag. Ancient spell books tend to be a good company. I have few friends, but I'm fiercely loyal to them.
I was born into the Vanes, an old and wealthy wizarding family. I grew up in Vane Manor, in the Yorkshire. My parents, Arthur and Beatrix, have always been strict and emotionally distant. My life has always been solitary. I had tons of private tutors: I learnt latin, wizarding history, piano, etiquette. Everything I do is always attentively scrutinized. And that's probably why I tend to need control above everything else, to put strict rules upon myself and upon my habits just to feel like I have an actual authority over my body, over my life.
My first display of magic happened actually not so long ago. I was 7 years old, and I was doing a piano lesson. My tutor had been asking me to play the same tune for two hours straight, shouting every time I did wrong. And I was exhausted, I really was, and frustration was growing in me. I felt humiliated, I just wanted to go away. And suddenly the metronome (which was constantly ticking) exploded in tiny metallic pieces. The lesson quickly ended, and I was actually satisfied in myself.
