Elsie is starting school in the coming September, class of 2026-2027.
Physical Traits: Elsie Courtney has olive skin and freckles along her nose. Her eyes are a light green, and her hair is mid-back length, black, and pin-straight.
Mental Description: Courtney is ambitious, wishing to become a powerful witch. She loves the idea of fame/being in the history books. So, she’s a bit hesitant when doing anything to disgrace herself, her house, or her family. The only problem that she runs into with that is that she burns herself out quickly while trying to do everything. Courtney, when seeing someone doing something that seems impressive to anyone of standing, she’ll set that task for herself as well. A good friend, but she tries not to let things get in the way of her dreams.
Biography: Before Hogwarts, Elsie didn’t live a bad life. She’d lived with her parents and her older brother, all wizard-born. Since her mother and father worked as both an alchemist and an archivist, they weren’t home as often. Her mother is Barbara Courtney, a minor known alchemist, not greatly important, but with a good amount of success. Her father is Simon Courtney, an archivist who’s very serious about his work of preserving the history of the wizarding world. He’s the main one to blame for Elsie’s drive to be known, due to his knowledge of almost every powerful magical person through the books. However, when Elsie’s parents were home, they’d tell her stories of all the great wizards/witches of the wizarding world. Her brother studied astronomy overseas, and her parents held his success as a standard for Elsie. It was the only option, so Elsie stuck with that mindset.
Since her parents weren’t around often and her brother was away from home, Elsie was mainly cared for by her parents’ house-elf, Coffy. Coffy would happily tell Elsie stories and myths, so Elsie has always felt a bit more drawn to her. She carried a small butterfly brooch from Coffy, given to her before she went off with her parents to shop in Diagon Alley.
FIOM: Elsie had been around eight, being sent up to her room early by her parents after a heated disagreement. She had not been happy about it, yelling and making a fuss. Coffy pleaded softly with her to try and calm her down from the doorway, unfortunately, to no avail. While she kicked at the floor, her tantrum in full kick as she wasn’t thinking clearly, her lamp that had been on her desk flew up, crashing into the room’s wall. Elsie, startled into silence and confused, got off the floor and ducked behind the wide-eyed Coffy’s back. Coffy, realizing what had happened, had quickly run to Elsie’s parents, telling them what she had seen. Though her mother had been annoyed by the circumstances in which the magic decided to reveal itself, her father was overjoyed at the show of magic, even though it had shown up during a tantrum.
