Physical Description: Gray, almond shaped eyes with a bit of eyeliner He has short brown hair, wears sweaters a lot, and has earrings. He's average height, and has visibly chewed nails
Mental Description: He's fairly nice and respectful, but not always. He will follow the rules, but if they're unfair or he doesn't agree with them he might decide to break them. He got average grades in his muggle school, though being especially good at science. He's not too interested in standing out, just wants to be there for people to fall back on when they need it and help them to success. He doesn't know what he'll be in the future but hopes that he ends up somewhere that is not an office job, because he doesn't think he can handle it and marvels at people who can. He's excited to go to Hogwarts and figure out what he's gonna do, how he's going to do it, and what he can accomplish with the new things he's going to discover.
Biography: He grew up in Ontario, Canada for most of his life until his parents moved to London to live with his grandpa. His mom is a doctor and dad is a hairstylist. He has a sister named Lyla.
He was upset when his family moved. He wanted, like most kids and others who move, to stay with his friends and not have to change anything about his life. But his grandpa was getting old and Mom worried about him living alone in his house, no family close to be able to help if he had an emergency. So move they did. Mom found a job as a doctor at the hospital like she hoped. Dad, though he tried to find a hair salon, ended up working at a clothes shop (which he decided was okay). Samuel's sister Lyla was upset too, but ended up making new friends at her school. Samuel thought she might've been pretending to be okay so as not to worry Mom and Dad, as the stresses of moving wore on them as well, so he made time in his schedule to spend time with her. It was good for both of them, as they could talk about their feelings around moving, while having ✨fun family bonding and only wanting to kill each other sometimes✨.
Samuel went to a new school. He made a couple new friends, though not as many as Lyla, (though, how could you when she has so many). He called his friends who were back in Canada. Slowly, though, the calls dwindled. They got shorter. His friends were making new friends and it was up to him to decide to let it go. He didn't want to be forgotten, but he wouldn't be because they had the presents he gave them and the jokes he told them that they would tell others. So he started to accept it. Took a couple months, but soon he was able to think about them and feel happy that they're happy.
He started talking to his grandpa. Turns out, Grandpa had a lot of good stories and he and Samuel had a lot in common (including their eyes, which Samuel had inherited from him). He decided after a while that moving, while heart-wrenching, had many downs but some ups too, and he would be okay. And then a stranger came to the house to tell him about magic and Hogwarts and wizardry. His family and him were confused. Witchcraft? Wizardry? Was this a prank? Lyla, was it you? Did you get someone to act as this person? No, she didn't. Wands? Potions? Samuel, do you have something to tell us? No, he didn't. He remembered the time something happened that he thought might've been him that was unexplainable, but he had chalked it up to just a weird thing that happened. Now he realized it wasn't a coincidence, it was him. The family followed the instructions given. They bought his things. They marveled at the fact that this was, in fact, real. Samuel was scared. Samuel was confused. Samuel was 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥. He was going to help people, which he always wanted to do, in a whole new way that wasn't just trying to give advice and buying "hope you get better" presents, though they were always appreciated.
He wasn't going to be the most important witch or wizard at Hogwarts, but he was going to do his darndest to help the people that were.
First Instance of Magic: Samuel was a couple of weeks from turning ten when his family flew to a town in the U.K from where they would drive to London to check out some houses. "Fun family bonding". They had arrived in the U.K, almost in London, and Samuel was looking out the window into what would be his new home.
Road trips, as we all know, can be....chaotic.
Especially with your dad and sister arguing over the music playing, your mom telling them to be quiet, she was driving, and you just trying to read your book about dragons ending a 20 year war. And then you want a drink. Lyla is the drink keeper, as she insisted at the start of the drive for who knows why. So you ask her for the water bottle, but she doesn't hear you as she bickers with Dad over whether the music be Mitski or Neil Diamond. She doesn't hear you so you say it louder, but she and Dad start talking louder, and Mom starts talking too, telling them to stop talking, and it all gets louder and louder and your ears are ringing and your throat is dry and your head is pounding. It all reaches the peak and you hear a pop. The car starts to sag and tilt a bit. Everyone stops talking as Mom pulls over. She inspects the tire and tells everyone that yep, it's popped all right. Don't worry, we have a spare in the trunk. Still, Dad says, what popped the tire? The road is clear, I don't see anything glinting, I don't get it. No one else understands it either. And you're left wondering whether sudden relief in your head after the tire popped meant anything. But no, it didn't, of course it didn't. You're a kid, Samuel, it wasn't you. And eventually the professor came and explained. And everything made sense.
