Appearance:
Valerie De Valombre is a pallid, elegant boy, whose fragile looks give him an aristocratic, and therefore inaccessible, air. His dark brown hair is soft and wavy, generally only reaching past his ears, and styled neatly but not excessively. Valerie has sharp, cool grey-blue eyes, and thanks to his long lashes it is far too easy to underestimate him. Standing at a respectable average height, Valerie is slender and holds himself at a perfectly posture, an attribute that has been ingrained since childhood. His hands are clean, his uniform perfectly pressed, and he always wears a silver signet ring with the De Valombre crest. He has a non-threatening, yet elegant, look, and it is only in his unsettling stillness while he observes others that you find the hint of a threat.

Mentality:
Smart, calm and always polite, Valerie is deeply emotional, at least to almost everyone in his life. He has always been conditioned to accept all of the things his pureblood family believes, and learned from an early age how to hide all his emotions behind carefully crafted words and polite mannerisms. He prefers reading and studying magic history, rather than being put in the spotlight, preferring to sit quietly and observe others.
Although he is outwardly cold to the majority of people, Valerie is fiercely loyal to the very few individuals he genuinely trusts. Needless cruelty is beyond distasteful, but the boisterousness that comprises half of the pureblood population simply seems pathetic when really, the problem could be solved by stating: "my family's lineage is clearly shinier than yours". His father is convinced that the peak of human achievement has already passed with "my family's lineage is clearly shinier than yours", and although Valerie largely agrees, he cannot help but feel that it should lead to "my bloodline is shinier than yours, therefore you have always been, and always will be, less than me", as well.
Possessing a dry wit, and almost supernatural manipulation skills if necessary, Valerie lives under the constant fear of failure and letting his family down. He is the epitome of a perfectionist, and his own unattainable standards are his greatest weakness. Although he tries to hide it, Valerie is naturally curious about the world, and envies those lucky souls without a reputation to uphold, or a prestigious family name to live up to.

Biography:
Valerie De Valombre was born to the old French-British De Valombre House, respected in all wizarding circles for its political prowess, magical ability and elegant refinement above all else. From the minute Valerie could speak, he was expected to act like a heir should.
The De Valombres possess family property in France but have mostly resided in England for years since his father uprooted the family to Harrow to make more of a connection with British pureblood society, the family still live on a remote country manor estate on the outskirts of Harrow, as far away from any Muggles as possible.
Valerie was raised in a large, echoing country manor with hundreds of portraits to gaze at and centuries of history to sift through. Valerie's father Lucien is a rather cold, calculating wizard that believed emotions were weak. His mother Celestine is softer and still concerned for the image of their house, but she cares still about appearances.
Valerie was educated at home by a number of tutors until the age of eleven and was expected to speak French perfectly and possess the correct manners and behaviour of the heir of such an old house. He had no close friends, mostly socialising only with other pureblood children at parties, events and gatherings and even then often felt out of place because of their obsessive nature with status and blood purity.
Though the De Valombres openly embrace their pureblood traditions, Valerie himself doesn't entirely believe in many of them and carefully keeps the thought well hidden from everyone who would consider it a disappointment.

First Use of Magic:
Valerie's first unintentional use of magic was when he was about six years old at a formal dinner that was being held at the De Valombre estate at Harrow, England. There were various families from influential purebloods invited to this formal dinner and the De Val ombre son was meant to sit at the adult table and stay quiet throughout the meal as they discussed politics and magical matters. One of the adults at the table spoke negatively of him in front of the other adults at the table telling them that he "look frail and wonders if he will even be capable of carrying on the De Val ombre name". Val though he showed no emotion suddenly felt immensely humiliated and enraged at the same time. Unexpectedly all the dining room windows were blown wide open creating a strong draft through the room. After a stunned silence, the adults said it was a most fantastic accident of magic, Val however remembered the silent stare of everybody.
